been watching some kdramas lately and ngl they’re lowkey the best visual fuel. you watch these changs and realize how much looks actually control everything.

there’s always that one dude who’s stupid good looking and then the mid or outright ugly one who gets clowned, ignored, or treated like background noise and you can literally see the looks hierarchy in every scene.

they always make it obvious too: hot guy gets the stares, the respect, the slow-mo shots, ugly dude gets used for jokes or pity, unless he gets a glow up later and suddenly everyone “sees” him. that shit lowkey shows how people flip their behavior the second your face and styling change, nothing else.

then magically the same people who ignored him start acting brand new

why does the title sound like an nyt article and anyway nga korea is a shithole the reason they've got this blackpill shi is cause of their having NO religion NO values and a generally hyperreal culture(based off media not real life reality); in any case your being affected by this only makes for more of the same in that YOUR REALITY is informed by something inherently unreal(k-drama(obviously) is fake both there and in the presumably western society in which you live)

Modern Korean culture has lookism on steroids, basically. Remember it's the country where plastic surgery and certain procedures are very normalized and even expected at some level. Most of the "idols", both men and women, ain't just some naturally beautiful people, but a "product" of a lot of enhancements, there is pretty much a "pipeline" you have to go through if you go to k-pop or k-drama.
Another thing to note is that k-dramas are mostly aimed for young women audience, so, yea it's blackpilled in absence that the main characters are usually what that audience desires there.
