He was the sandman, a being of infinite power and strength, yet no amount of strength could save him from his own heartache. He had lost the love of his life to the depths of hell and had been searching for her ever since.
The sandman had felt hope again when he finally discovered her in the clutches of the underworld. But when he saw her she was not the same as before. She looked haunted, her eyes filled with sadness, and her lips unable to form the words of love he had once heard. He knew then that she had been through ten thousands years of torture, thousands of suffering, and he felt his broken heart shatter anew. The sandman wanted nothing more than to save her from this living nightmare, but the laws of hell were too powerful to break. He could only stand helplessly and watch as she was dragged away into the depths of damnation.
The sandman's sorrow was so great he could not bear it. He had lost his love, and all that was left for him was a lifetime of regret. He had been unable to save her from her fate, and he had been unable to save himself from his own broken heart.
