TLDR: if your skin is busted, you should get Accutane (or Dr. pen if you have a lot of scarring after acne is cleared), and then CO2 laser if those two don't finish the job. Only then will you really get the full benefits of makeup 🙈

karma's mumbai makeupcel tales

I had to pull this shit out of my storage unit (where it had been chilling for almost a year) to get ready to take my L on new years 💀

Inspired by the latest BOTB makeup thread, we're gonna go through my makeup kit and see if I could have just gotten a co2 laser treatment and saved myself most of the hassle trying to figure out this makeup frauding shit.

also making this thread as a warning to any aspiring makeupcels to not try this shit if your skin is BUSTED 😫
for reference - the vaunted IT Cosmetics CC cream was actually one of the first things I tried, but I ended up returning it because it didn't sit well on my busted skin (i needed something with way more coverage to actually even out my skintone). I spent the better part of 2 years learning how to use all these products (with the help of a retired MUA who worked at the mall by my house) but I only practiced makeup on days where I wasn't busy lifting or cooking, so at most 2 days a week. If you really locked in you might get to my level in a month or two

so yeah, here's my kit - note: this isn't all the makeup i own, i have another ~250 bucks worth of stuff sitting in the unit, but these were all the essentials that i felt like stuffing in the carrying case that my homie bought me for my birthday a couple years ago. I will highlight the things that everyone should look into

Case

one of my best birthday gifts tbh

Kit

let nobody say i wasn't really bout this makeupcel life again 😤

In order -
Stonecold (Truecel) Fox Nude Eyeshadow Pallet - $40 (i bought one with a lot of shades to see if i could cook up a better daytime look than just using my blush powder on my lids. Spoiler, no. When you have deepset eyes doing any type of cateye looks lowkey retarded unless you use a lighter shade, which can be good for some looks but not everyday application)

Revlon eyelash curler - $10 - Absolute mogger piece of equipment, no downsides to using this
Wedge applicators - $3 - Yeah I had beauty blenders but they were a pain in the ass to wash, I use my stuff so rarely that it became better to just use these

Soft powder brush - $15 (For doing setting powders - this felt the best on my face. I dont know why the dumb fucks at ulta made it double sided)
Large angled powder brush - $5 (for blush only)
Small angled powder brush - $12 (I used to use this to smudge eyeliners back before I stopped being a pussy about water lines)
real techniques eye brush set - $15 (yes, i learned how to use the entire set to do multicolour eyeshadow looks with my vibrant morphe pallet off camera. I popped off at the renaissance fair)

brow gel - $10 (for days where hairs just dont cooperate)
Maybelline clear mascara - $5 (can be useful for eyelash density if you don't want people to see you wearing mascara)
Waterproof mascara - $10 (only cheap PCT fraud method for NCT cels)
Non-waterproof mascara - $45 (no I did not spend 45 bucks on a fucking mascara. My mom ended up with 3 copies of this one and gave me one for free. I actually prefer the non-waterproof one because its way easier to clean off lmao)
Scandaleyes eyeliner pencil - $6 - Why buy a more expensive one tbh? I ended up getting a cool sharpener in a gift bag to extend the lifespan (I actually do own a liquid eyeliner off camera, but its far too punishing with mistakes so I don't even bother with it)
Anastasia brow pencil - $18 - I went to the mall one day and tried out all 20 of their brow pencil shades to find the closest one to my hair colour 💀 Low inhib mogger activities only. Don't just buy the same one

Dry brush cleaner - $5 (Used when the spray cleaner just couldnt get shit out)

setting powder - $20 (This came in clutch whenever my skin undertone was too pale, as it would lighten the shade of all makeup on my face. Its also good to use as a base for highly pigmented shades on the eyes)
Smashbox contouring powder kit - $30 - the only way for me to fraud a good nasal bridge tbh. The kit came with the red brush in the bag
Smashbox becca highlighter - $40 (used if i ever wanted to add a light shimmer, which lets be real i rarely do. i forgot how i got talked into buying this)

urban decay setting spray - $15 (tiktok told me to get this, and it is pretty goated ngl)
cinema secrets brush cleaner - $50 (price for the 1 liter big bottle, shown is the smaller spray bottle the big bottle comes with) Another mogger piece of equipment, this shit will melt your powder and dry out in less than 5 minutes and it smells pretty good too
lancome eye makeup remover - $25 (ngl i paid the big bucks to get one that didn't hurt my fucking eyes when i used it)
primer - $20 - without this my foundation would clump badly

concealer - $30 (another low inhib mogger tale, i went into ulta one day and tried out like 40 different concealers and bought the closest one to my skin tone. You probably dont need to spend this much)
foundation - $35 (after lancome stopped selling my fav shade, my MUA trainer helped me find this one which was the closest)
colour correctors - $18 (green for nasty red spots and peach for pesky beard shadows)
burts bees tinted lip balm - $5 (I own 3 copies of this because it MOGS. Its always on me)
blush powder - $10 - I brought both my foundation and concealer to ulta to find the shade with the best contrast

Which comes out to around $500, or $750 if you include all my throwaway shit - so slightly cheaper than the average CO2 treatment in north america. I still wish I had bought one of those instead 😫

Yeah you tldrd it but i skimmed through and yup, make up on "busted skin" wont allow full benefits and could cause breakouts aswell whichll set you back even more if it turns into scarring.

I do think one co2 lasering session would make a note worthy difference however youd likely need multiple sessions anyway to fade all scars/pigmentation and also smooth skin out so you didnt really miss out, i had one professional microneedling session months ago and spent hundreds on skincare to "prep" for it and at the end of the day i regret using that money for that. No diff imo but it was ONE session. If you are also still acne prone then the laser is useless as youll get scarring again over the area you just cleared.

Im personally only gonna use makeup after ive done everything else incl hardmax. Along with wigs and contacts maybe. I see it as an add on not really a cover up. Just my preference of way to go about it but mirin everything you bought :ChocolaGasm::AnimePOG:

bro paid for microneedling when dr. pen exists 🙈

i have no idea what the pros could possibly be doing to justify the price they charge

Idk what you mean by that :feelsuhh:

1. I want to try multiple colours to see which ones i like but once my hairs long i dont want to damage it

2. I dont want to dye my hair (pink for example) cus its like holding a sign that im a faggot so wigs are more convenient and easier to hide
