never forget that you use this site and everything you touch at the pleasure of engineers like us

your existence can be snuffed out at a whim. We STEMcels are so frustrated with life and have gained such insurmountable amount knowledge that we are able to succeed in any field we want. Finance, military you name it. These skills that we learned in our brutal uni years have equipped us with the perfect skills that an elite killers or snippers possesses

An engineer's passing fancy can seal your doom or complete your life beyond your wildest imaginings. Never disrespect us.

Hmmm there’s truth to this I’m planning on starting a nerd revolt I already got my European 16th century full plate armour on lock for only 550 quid not the best quality but it covers everything and has a shield (niggas Finna have to buy their own swords and shit doe) when I’m ready we will rise and take them niggas out

Even a modest grasp of physics and math totally reshapes how you can read the world.
It sharpens your sense of risk and consequence, showing how small shifts can ripple into cascades.

Technical literacy, unlike most domains, isn’t just learning facts on a page, it’s a way of seeing the world that changes how you move through it, even though many of these engineers are gearheads who stay clueless about plenty of other stuff.

I hate electricity. It’s voodoo. At least electronics/sensors make some sense.

even a little physics or math changes how you see the world. You start noticing cause and effect everywhere how small changes can snowball, how risk actually works etc

it's not just about knowing formulas, it's a whole way of thinking. The funny part is a lot of engineers see the world through that lens but can still be pretty clueless outside their niche. Like I know fuck all about mechanical engineering It sharpens some senses but leaves others dull

Formal languages and those automata stuff. Turing machine etc those were the ones that went over my head. Compiler design

studying engineering was the best thing for other aspects of my academics, looking at peoples philosophical proofs when they haven't learnt how to think like an engineer and do the corresponding mathematic proof is such a stark difference, I am so much better at clearly identifying the most efficient way to improve at my creative endeavours, the physics is obviously helpful when you need to consider the forces of combat sports. As much as I hate studying engineering everyone should do it

You can tell how good someone is going to be at electrical engineering by asking them how long it took to grasp Thevenin’s theorem.

Isn't signals and control systems like the hardest courses in electrical engineering? Know a few guys who got a backlog in those courses

Depends if you’re better at electronics/control or pure electricity. Signals and control systems can be pretty hard.
