There is this book that argues that pretty much everything we do in our lives is the result of us fearing death. That's why people are so kin on "preserving their legacy".

I argue that if we disconnect ourselves from this fear of death we can find true peace of mind and liberation.

Does death not scare you

People scared of death because of desires that haven’t been met in their lives time. If you don’t have much desires or you have acknowledged that the mere existence is temporary in the grand scheme of things than death becomes less scary.

I am scared of death because I still have desires but I can accept death easier than most people without this mindset.

If you achieved Enlightenment you can avoid this cycle of rebirthing.


My view on this is that our existences and experiences are just illusions created by the mind of a higher being, noticing the Sun along with earths and other planets similar to Atom nucleus to proton and electrons, while universes and cosmos look like an individual neuron. So by achieving enlightenment it means your self awareness is beyond this illusion, you are awakened now. An analogy would be when a character in a video game gains its own concious and developer decided to put it out of the matrix.
