Most people check SNA, ANB or MPA when they look at midface projection and growth pattern on a lateral ceph
There's another thing worth looking at that I've noticed after looking at countless cephs its the vertical relationship between the lowest point of the zygoma KR and ANS-PNS

SNA/SNB are mid measurements, they don't correct for patatal tilt (ANS-PNS relative to SN or FH) and don't correct for S-N tilt (pop avg is about 7 degrees but u still have to do SNA/SNB - (S-N tilt) to get ur true SNA or SNB

What does it look like?

The case of low KR-(ANS-PNS)-N(perp):
Capture decran 2026 09 10 a 220427

This is generally associated with hypodivergence and SFS. Forward growth is good but vertical growth is necessary as well. You don't want to look good only from the side.

As you can see there's no gap between KR and ANS-PNS. If anything the key ridge might be overlapping the palate.
This matches the short face syndrome pattern and the structures get stacked tightly with reduced vertical height in that region

The ideal balanced KR-(ANS-PNS)-N(perp):

Capture decran 2026 09 10 a 221504

This is more associated with meso / balanced growth patterns. This is IMO the ideal since it balances all vertical and sagittal dimensions.

KR sits in clean alignment with the palatal plane (ANS-PNS) and there's no large separation (downgrowth) and no heavy overlap (SFS). The zygoma and palate sit in an aligned vertical position without the compression of SFS growth.
The case of high KR-(ANS-PNS)-N(perp):
Capture decran 2026 09 10 a 222006

This is more associated with hyperdivergence / downward growth patterns. Altough hyperdivergence growth is bad, this could be ideal if compensated with enough forward growth which could give that high-class look (more hollow cheeks, higher-set zygos, associated with tall skulls)

Clear and significant gap. KR sits well above ANS-PNS.
The midface is more vertically developed and the zygomatic support is higher relative to the palate.

Conclusion:
this is just another confirmation that brachies are cooked
meso is ideal
