For those of you trying to lose weight, I’d recommend using unsweetened almond milk. It’s only about $2 for a half gallon, 30 calories per cup, and it takes longer to go bad than regular milk even after opening.
I usually use three scoops of protein, which comes out to around 390 calories from the powder alone. Adding a cup of almond milk brings the total to 420 calories. If I used fat free milk instead, that same shake would be 480 calories. Whole milk would make it 540.
That saves me 60 to 120 calories per shake. Over a week of daily shakes, that’s enough saved calories to fit in almost one extra three scoop shake every week or two without breaking my deficit. Staying in a deficit makes maintaining muscle mass way easier.
I’ve been doing it and it’s worked wonders.
