I remember when Leftist journalists were let off en masse in 2017-2019 post the Trump-Hillary election, when their propaganda posts were no longer needed, they began making blogs and articles complaining.

The response mocking them was "Learn to code."
This was back when 'Learning to Code' was a genuine career. Someone living in the United States could learn to code and in 3 years time have a genuine job making great money. @Jason Voorhees can attest to this.

This meme was actually pretty big if you can remember. To the point where if literally anyone complained about their financial situation, the response would be "Learn to code."
Because learning to code was easy, and making money from knowing how to code was even easier.

This might have been a contributing factor but I think you are giving those niggas too much credit. It is pretty water rn tha is real culprit behind the current market oversaturation was a decade of Zero Interest Rate Policy (ZIRP).

Tech companies hoarded engineers because venture capital money was free this created a hiring bubble that burst . Tech CEOs didn't need a memes to flood the market. Tech was already very lucrative and engineers were already advertising their lives at Google, Microsoft which normies ate up. Ofc anyone watching an engineer making $150k right after college and barely working for 3 hours a day would be attracted to it and think it's a dream job. This is why CS went main stream. The wages and day in a life of software developer at Google videos. CS for long time was an obscure degree only taken up by people passionate about computers. Talking about Linus torvalds days.
