These boomer dinosaurs in manufacturing, retail, and old school finance are stuck with bloated costs, zero adaptability, and dusty business models that barely print money. They barely break the double digit mark and are either operating under loss or break even or slight profit at best, which is why the salaries are all low. They've been around forever so they carry legacy baggage like unions, big physical infrastructure, and resistance to change which eats into margins and makes it hard to grow or innovate fast. The only thing moving the S&P 500 is Tech rn. Otherwise evrything is down in the shitter.
