Thats a good question to be honest. i think 18 is the perfect age of becoming an adult, i mean it doesnt have sense that you need to live 21 YEARS which is two decades to just smoke a cigarette or drink a beer.

Meh. Kind of one of those "ban guns and violence will disappear" things. Ban alcohol, humans will find an alternative. You can't get rid of someone's desire to be inebriated.

This literally happened. In the Prohibition period (1920s), alcohol sale and production was banned by the US government. People didn't give a shit, and alcohol was still being sold and consumed illegally.

Got repealed about a decade later because the policy was so unpopular and difficult to enforce. Criminal activity was rampant too.

Anyway, my answer to your thread is 18.

I'd honestly say 16. Drinking age doesn't work anyway, especially in the UK.
I've seen 13 year olds walk into off-licenses and bring out litre bottles of smirnoff.

I think it comes down to the fact that these 16 year olds are going to be drinking anyways, so why restrict it so hard?
I get that it's a demerit good and shit, but it's better than forcing them to go off to the black market.

- in some countries, provided you're on private property, you can drink at 16

- I think people should have a few nights of drinking in a safe isolated space to test their limits

- getting drunk for the first time in public, unknowing of how you're going to act will inevitably cause some issues

- easier to socialise if you're socially retarded for some individuals

Even if it was 21 teens at 18 would still be drinking anyway and their lives would be ruined for stupid laws like that, better to just keep it at 18
