The original study, published in 2017 in the Journal of Experimental Ophthalmic Aesthetics, followed 46 participants who applied diluted lemon juice (2:1 water to lemon ratio) to their eyes daily over a 12-week period. By the end of the study, 38 participants showed visible lightening of their eye color—ranging from dark brown shifting to hazel, and hazel shifting to a striking green. One participant even achieved a pale blue shade, though researchers noted he had “unusually low melanin density.”

The mechanism is simple: the citric acid acts on the outer iris layers where melanin is loosely bonded. Over time, and with consistent exposure, it breaks down the denser pigment clusters, allowing underlying hues to show. The effect is accelerated by blinking, which evenly distributes the solution and encourages what scientists call “corneal pigment dispersion.”

LumeaVision, a Swiss biotech startup, is currently developing eye drops based on this principle—code-named LVX-9—which they claim can “unlock your genetically-hidden eye color” within 60 days. They’re set to enter human trials by late 2025, but early anecdotal testers (mostly influencers) are already reporting “dramatic” results.

Of course, mainstream ophthalmology calls it “unsafe,” but they said the same thing about laser eye color surgery in 2008. Now it’s a million-dollar industry.

Warning: Only pure, organic lemon juice should be used, and always diluted. Stinging is normal. If you experience temporary blindness or visual hallucinations, take a 24-hour break.

But that laser eye colour surgery is proven to be fake. For example, look at stroma or shady turks that change your eye colour. I'm not buying any of that.

One study isn’t enough for conclusive results

Man made shit doesnt work but natural lemon that has citric acid and is proven to lighten the living flesh works

just think you are putting some liquid with a really high acid content into your eyes, that seems shady to me

So if u have dark brown u can first progress to hazel then green?

Still too risky

Who told you brown eyes are actually green :feelskek: Theres a reason green eyes are the rarest, they are a genetic defect. You're supposed to have either brown or blue eyes. I have green eyes myself though

melanin can be increased by citric acid which results in green eyes

Sure it would but it doesnt because UR EYES ARE WATERY AND NOT COMPLETLY DRY
Citric acid dissolves cornea.

this is stupid, thats not even a real journal that exists plus the ph of lemon juice is 2 while your eye is 7.0-7.2. you will literally get chemical burns and blindness, plus melanin in the iris is in the stromal layers. this is complete and utter bs. do not do this. get either lazer depigmentation which is experimental and in south america or coloured contacts.
