If you won't privatise the forum, make it so users are given the option whether to make their thread public, or only visible to other users.

This way you can still have your new members if you want, they just won't be able to engage with/see our posts. Also allow to filter out who we can allow to see, e.g. no greycels, no new users

They will still have access to botb, and all most all information already available, all you have to do is (insert question or topic) followed by 'looksmax' and youll have your answer

Yes, but at least they won't ruin the forum as much, and won't have access to say surgery discussions, results, etc. This is the next best option

I agree that it isnt realistic to expect it and there will be a compromise but the knowledge will still bleed into mainstream media
