a lot of people here love the death penalty because of how “satisfying” and “enjoyable” it feels to see a criminal get what they deserve

but imo life in solitary confinement is a million times times worse than the death penalty

imagine being locked in a small room, never seeing outside except for maybe 1 hour a day. no visitors, no one to speak to, for the rest of your life…

not even the toughest people will last a week. solitary confinement is literally a form of torture (look it up)

at least with the death penalty there is a sense of closure and acceptance

Locked them in solitary confinement with only one window, and a guard staring at them 24/7

i would sooner kill myself with my own hands than have to spend my life in a cell. I pity people who spend their entire lives in prisons.

where did i say i support people like esptein? or that i don’t think he deserves to be punished? please put away the shallow arguments

my point is that hell in the christian and islamic theologies is insane and utterly evil

what could justify an infinity of conscious eternal torture? don’t get me wrong, i hate criminals and abusers, but an infinity of anything is excessive. mere mortal humans don’t deserve eternal reward nor eternal punishment. both are out of proportion

this doesn’t even get to the fact that the requirement to get into hell Isnt even being a bad personally necessarily. simply not believing in that specific religion is enough to warrant eternal suffering? and from a merciful and loving god?

i respect that. i also believe that if god exists and he is truly merciful and good than he would not judge you by how much you praised him but how you treated yourself and those around you…

sadly at least 4.5 billion people don’t agree with us. a shame that the two biggest religions think the biggest crime someone can commit is not being convinced of their claims
