It only takes a human a very short time to determine if somebody else is attractive, and this is not changed by lighting. The same people would look attractive in shit tier fluorescent lighting that would in good lighting.
The reason that you are probably perceived the same in all levels of lighting is because every other person around you has descended or ascended by the same amount as you think have. Our eyes automatically adjust. It’s subconscious. I’ve never heard of anybody thinking “that girl is so unattractive in fluorescent lighting I ONLY like her in good lighting”. You will probably see yourself as much less attractive in bad lighting because nobody has analyzed your own face as much as yourself.
This doesn’t mean lighting doesn’t matter in pictures, though. We are used to looking at faces in motion, not a single instant. So lighting hitting your face at a bad angle in a photo has the potential make you look bad even if you don’t necessarily look terrible in real life.
