Lips look better when I am leaner

Something I've noticed. When I get leaner, like I am doing right now after gaining some covid weight, my lips always seem more pronounced. Is this because there is less fat around them or perhaps the face being not as wide? Or is it all in my head?

Has anyone else noticed this?
