For the last months I’ve been dealing with increasing jaw tension and facial asymmetry, especially on the right side. My jaw feels tight, misaligned and sometimes almost “stuck” when I wake up. I also notice that the right side of my face looks fuller, more swollen and less defined compared to the left. It gets worse after sleeping or during the day when the muscles fatigue.
I suspect I have some form of CMD or a jaw joint imbalance. I often clench or chew more on one side, and this seems to make the asymmetry worse. I also tried masseter massage, fascia release and other techniques, but now the right side feels even more irritated and tense.
My current symptoms:– jaw tension, especially on the right– feeling of misalignment when opening my mouth– occasional “jaw locking” or restricted opening– swelling/fullness on one side– morning asymmetry that improves slightly during the day– long‑term one‑sided clenching/chewing– fear that it’s getting worse without proper treatment
I’m getting a professional splint from my doctor in about a month, but I’m unsure what to do until then. I don’t want to make things worse, but I also don’t want to stay unprotected if clenching is causing more asymmetry or joint irritation.
If anyone has experience with CMD, jaw imbalance or similar symptoms, I’d appreciate any advice on what I can realistically do until my medical splint is ready.
pls answer this im 15 and when i have this my whole face (side profile looks so much worse i could murder
