No actually London is by FAR the worse taking into account living costs and housing. Average house/apartment costs about 550k. That's almost 15x the average wage. In some places it's near a million.

Meanwhile, in some places like Yorkshire and Humber houses go for like 100k and you can find block apartments for even less.

I'm from up north. People in London are broke as shit and have conceded they'll never buy a house instead content with filling someone's else's pockets with rent. Meanwhile up north young people who work in even shit jobs, actually have the possibility of buying some time in later life.

The idea is to be a paid professional life with parents or old money friends until you can afford a down payment of half the amount of the house somewhere outside of the big city but close enough for commuting.
