Long hair?

My hair rn is super curly and it basically forms a ball around my head (I can post a pic if people dont know what I mean) and I want to make it longer and basically have it hang down. How do I do ts?

Curly hair is best left short...or not curly at all. If it's in a afro like ball then im guessing it's about mid length. A friend of mine pulls curly hair off really well in the form of a modern mullet. But that could just be his face shape. Need context
