That's bad, most of the times selfies are more distorted than pics taken further away, that probably means distortion helps your looks (a.k.a. your face have to literally be distorted for it to look better lol)

For me, it's the opposite, the closer the camera is, the worse I look, and I look better when the camera is at the same level as my face than when it is below it.

Ur retarded lol. That just means OP benefits from having a longer midface and wider IPD. Selfies make the midface and skull seem longer and IPD wider. Short skull and overly compact midface aren't good.
