Before you do cold approach you should just get comfortable talking to random people out in public. Start off talking to old men. Try to push your comfort zone with the conversations by making them feel uncomfortable too. Ask an invasive question or two. Ask them uncomfortable questions about their families or something. Try to see how far you can push it with the ultimate goal of finishing the convetsation on a good note. If they get angry or offended see if you can steer the tone back to a more pleasant one. By doing this you're gonna develope important skills, not confindence. You'll develope skills that lay the foundation for confidence. After you get good at this try moving on to more worthy marks. Try talking to random people who look like they're busy. Make a game of how long you can keep busy people talking to you. Always move on to more and more difficult targets.
