When Freddie Ljungberg joined Arsenal F.C. from Halmstads BK in 1998 he signed for around £3 million, and at the time £3 million fee implied a somewhat major signing.
But what made the transfer legendary is that the Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger reportedly bought Ljungberg without ever watching him play. Wenger instead trusted his gut, relying on "his eye for talent".
I wonder what made him so confident...?
