Now i do think there are people who are objectively attractive still but for the most part looks are more or less subjective example we can all agree that david gandy, jordan barrett and francisco lachowski are objectively attractive
BUT if attractiveness wasn’t also subjective the whole point of “hear me outs” wouldn’t exist but some people disagree with those statements examples are james sapphire and thein:
I have seen lots of people say james was a very attractive man but also lots of people call him uncanny now looks cannot be objective if the attraction to james sapphire is split same with thein people call him attractive but also uncanny or “ruined himself”
so in my opinion looks isn’t necessarily objective just because there is significant agreement about certain people being attractive there can be objective physical characteristics such as facial symmetry or particular proportions while the value people place on those characteristics and whether they find the overall person attractive remains subjective to people
You can measure things like symmetry height or specific features in a pretty objective way What you cant measure is how a person actually reacts to those traits Someone can check every box that studies say should make them attractive and another person still just doesnt feel it The traits themselves might be measurable but the judgment of whos attractive is where it gets personal theres also a difference between a consensus and something thats objectively true If ninety percent of people agree someones attractive that doesnt magically make it a fact It just means a lot of people share the same taste If attractiveness were truly objective disagreements would feel more like arguing over height or bone structure Instead people can look at the same face and come away with completely different reactions That alone tells you there isnt one universal standard culture and personal experience play a role too What someone finds attractive is shaped by what they grew up seeing their history their preferences Even inside the same culture tastes can be totally different One person is drawn to angular faces while another prefers softer or more unusual features Neither is wrong because attraction isnt a math problem with one answer thats why it gets especially messy with unusual looks Someone like James Sapphire can get positive reactions from a bunch of people while others find him uncanny Same with Thein Some think hes highly attractive others see his features as damaged or just offputting If attractiveness were purely objective those split reactions would be a lot harder to explain Instead they show that the same physical characteristics can land completely differently depending on whos looking i dont think the strongest position is that everything about attractiveness is subjective There are clearly patterns that create agreement which is why some people get called conventionally attractive across large groups It feels more accurate to say attractiveness lies on a spectrum Certain physical traits tend to produce certain reactions but the final judgment is still filtered through personal perception You can point to reasons why someone is widely seen as attractive without pretending the attractiveness itself is some objective fact
