“Looks get you in the door, personality keeps you there”

I feel like this common phrase is not only just wrong but opposite from the truth. I feel like when girls date a guy, a lot of the time they can initially get over the fact that he doesn’t look the best because he has a good personality and treats her well. I’ve heard a bunch of my girl friends say this like “no but he’s so nice” and they’re dating. Another common thing you see when people break up is them specifically saying “it’s nothing about you” (like the it’s not you it’s me thing) indicating that their personality was NOT the issue in the break up. This implies that the personality was NOT the cause in the person not being able to stay.

It’s just a shame because for a lot of guys who post about this idea online, a lot of girls always say, no, the looks can get you to know someone but the personality is what will make them stay, when it seems like it’s actually the other way around.
