if anything appearance matters more than ever as you get older, because fewer people have it, in your teens and twenties you're still competing with genetic outliers that cruise through life thinking it's going to last forever, luckily genes for longevity are much rarer than looking good and those people still end up looking like shit if they don't make an effort to take care of themselves, and very few do.
