Looksmaxxing can start off as self-improvement, but in a lot of online communities, it quickly turns into an obsession with extreme and often unhealthy beauty standards. For example, there’s this huge focus on having a super defined, forward maxilla basically, that sharp midface look even though most people don’t even know what a maxilla is or where it is on the face. Guys start comparing CT scans of skulls, or doing weird techniques like “bone smashing,” hitting their faces hoping it’ll change their bone structure that has zero scientific backing and can actually be harmful. The problem is, you end up chasing features that barely anyone notices in real life, all while feeling worse and worse about yourself. That’s when looksmaxxing can shift from confidence-boosting to full-on body dysmorphia. You’re no longer improving your looks youre stuck obsessing over imaginary flaws, ts cant be good for you

I don't think 90% of the .org population care for body dysmorphia. I think it only becomes a problem when you're no longer making any meaningful improvements to your attractiveness and actively putting yourself at risk to fix a very low return-on-investment flaw.

Luckily most people who're like this don't have the resources or the balls to actually go through with their improvements so they're caught in the limbo of knowing their flaws and issues but being unable to change them, I guess that's for the better to be honest.

Yes but the « never enough » theory leads to an obsession that will never stop even if you see some progress. Another examples is workout like you can start it to get a good physique but once you archieve it youll want more and still thinks that your physic is bad, its the bigorexia and its the exact same for looksmaxxing

Just go outside at this point I know truth hurt but 98% of population dont even know what maxilla is and cant tell if you have a good or bad maxilla.

If it’s dysmorphia then it’s a collective delusion as you sure as hell can’t get girls on tinder without having godlike forward growth, fitness-influencer tier physique and so on.

despite all of this, looksmaxxing isnt the root problem either, for most people it all starts by taking an honest look at themselves and realizing they had bad development, wrong orthodontic treatment, wrong habits, etc. society done fucking up peoples faces
 
anything good self improvement thing will give body dysmorphia, any sport will make you insecure about your skills etc etc...
yeah everyone on .org hates themselves
