One day my high school economics teacher taught us about the concept of maximizing your expected value vs. risk in decision-making. This is a principle that a lot of people subconsciously follow but can't really articulate.

Expected value is defined as "the long-term average outcome of a random event, calculated as a probability-weighted average of all possible values," basically meaning your most likely outcome. Think of it pretty much as your ROI.

This may seem like water to most of you, but the first actions you should take in looksmaxxing are the ones that provide the best value for the lowest risk. This includes maintaining a good sleep schedule, debloating, and other surface-level softmaxxes. If you aren't doing these, are you even looksmaxxing?

When it comes to surgery planning, you should also be able to maximize your expected value. A lot of people seem to forget that there is a very real risk of getting botched when getting surgery. The concept of being botched alone shouldn't deter you from hardmaxxing, but it should prompt you to think about whether or not a procedure is worth it. Getting surgery to take you from MMTN to HMTN might not be worth it if the risk of getting botched outweighs the small benefit in appearance.

I was just thinking about this and thought it would be somewhat interesting to share. Let me know if you guys have any thoughts.
