My sister got a new bf and my mom got to meet him yesterday. Today my brother's wife came over and my mom told her she met him and she asked "so?" as if wanting to know her thoughts on hi. and she said "he's cute".

So, make of this what you will. The way I see it not only did my mom jump straight to looks when asked that and not bother to add any detail about personality, my brother's wife was more than satisfied with that answer and didn't ask about anything else, it's like looks are really all that people care about.
