US media has historically always had certain roles in media that were typically always played by attractive white men.
In the last 20 years or so there's been a perceivable push towards replacing those roles with black or mulatto men as much as possible.

If this was just a way to have more racial diversity, those roles would also be played by asian guys sometimes, but it never happens. It's always black or mulatto guys. For what concerns trash-tier TV such as Love Island, I'm pretty indifferent - it's typically low quality primal girls that like that type of content, and roasties, both of which are demographics I am deeply uninterested in so I don't care how their shapes are tasted by big media.

What worries me most is that they're specifically trying to also replace roles in fiction, which have historically always been played by white men. Look for example at the archetype of the romantic gentleman in movies like Pride and Prejudice or Interview with the Vampire - those are movies that captivate a large, LARGE amount of quality women and those roles have always been played by white men. Shit, for interview with the vampire they casted both Brad Pitt AND Tom Cruise as the lead characters, it couldn't be more obvious.

Now they're trying to replace that aesthetic (as well as many others) with black men on purpose. For example in Bridgerton, or by having black elves in LOTR. Legolas has been the first crush for many girls and it's not a coincidence they are actuating such a precise replacement of characters. It's a way to try and shape the newer generations' tastes, by using the same methods, with a different race.

And again, I would have nothing against it if there was a true, actual racial diversity of gingers, asians, etc. but it's always, always, ALWAYS black or mulatto guys. It's very deliberate.
