Most countries functioned just fine when they had 1/2 of the population that they do now, so why does it matter if the population falls by a few million? Especially with AI replacing the workforce, there’s no need to import 3rd worlders for the sake of increasing population.

Hopefully the UN maximum extent prediction for population that it will peak at 10-11 billion is true. Imagine 30-40 billion humans or more. Seeing it took 300k years to reach 200 million, 1800 years to 1 billion, and then 200 years to 8 billion, it’s not unlikely. This world is becoming a nightmare and too unnatural. Obviously, a lower birth rate affects the future of the state's economy, when the ratio changes and longer life expectancy increases.

Your idea of how AI and technology replaces some jobs is naive, automation has been talked about for over 50 years and yes today we are closer to it thanks to technology, but evan so we can only replace manual production in factories with that.
