I am reading a book 100 hundred things that every designer should know. Its unrelated to adhd, but I am finding out bits and pieces of information that I wanted to explore. One of them is that time perception is located in two parts of brains and one of them is where the dopamine is. Thats why things that makes us happy feels so short and those that we dont like feels so long. This explains time blindness, because we have high highs and low lows. Thats why boring things seems infinite and hyperfocus seems like a few minutes. And Thats probably why we cant easily predict how long will things take. Boring tasks seems like and hours (even they take always just 5 minutes) and exicitng tasks seem like “yeah! I can do it in an hour” and then it takes half a day.

Our clock depends on the ability to predict how long it takes. No wonder why we are not able to predict it when ours time feels so extreme on both ends.
“A prominent hypothesis regarding the relationship between dopamine and time is the “dopamine clock hypothesis” (Meck, 1996, 1983), which proposes that increases or decreases in dopamine quicken or slow the internal clock”
Its not that easy, cause there are other factors, as this study says, but for us, where dopamine is all or nothing, this can be more prevalent.
