Like Merc S class, Lexus LS, BMW 7 series, Range Rover, etc.

More practical for daily driving than sports cars.

Japan doesn't make luxury cars...

The Lexus LS (Japanese: レクサス・LS, Rekusasu LS) is a full-size luxury sedan (F-segment in Europe) serving as the flagship model of Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota.
Yeah, but they didn't really convince the market, there were other manufacturers like Ford or Volkswagen who tried to make luxury cars, but they weren't very successful, they just aren't perceived as luxury car makers, it's a badge of honor that it's build slowly in time, you can't just make a company and say "we're making luxury cars!", and slap a big price on your cars, the history, tradition and reputation of the company play a big part here.

Not true at all.

Lexus and especially the flagship model Lexus LS is considered a luxury car. They are perceived as luxury cars.

Besides Lexus is pretty successful.

They're still considered a more expensive Toyota, no one would choose a Lexus instead of a German car for example.

Actually many do choose Lexus over German cars.... Lexus LS is more expensive than Merc S class, BMW 7 or Audi A8. And people buy Lexus.

Who exactly are these people, first time I heard about this brand was in "Analyze That" when De Niro becomes a car salesman.

- What kind of car do you drive, anyway?
- It's a Lexus 430 LS.
- That's like a Toyota!
- It's a Lexus...
- Yeah, Toyota, Lexus, same thing. Japanese, right? And let's not forget Pearl Harbor.

Well, now you learned that Lexus is a luxury car brand and especially the flagship Lexus.

In reviews, Lexus LS is always compared to Merc S class, Audi A8, etc.
