Lycopene vs Beta Carotene

In this forum I've seen a lot of advocation of beta-carotene, but also some people taking lycopene. Now both are carotenoids with similar health benefits (though most people here take them for the orange/red skin undertones), but lycopene has no vitamin A content whereas beta carotene is an abundant source.

Basically, is there any reason to take lycopene over beta carotene?

Why not take both? Have lycopene for 1 meal... and beta carotene for another so they don't compete for absorption.

I've eaten tomato paste rigorously, like 2-3 table spoons per day, for over a month and cant say it gives any noticeable results... If it does it's very subtle. I think the easiest way to "redmaxx" is to just be in good health since it increases blood circulation.

I did get results from mega-dosing lycopene but it only lasted for a short duration, unlike a beta carotene tan which can be maintained for weeks very easily. I was also a bit concerned about the DHT-inhibitory effect of lycopene in large doses. Don't wanna get finasteride syndrome from fucking tomatoes lol
