Before industry, physical strength was a valuable trait, now its basically useless. Machines are so much stronger and faster than people. No matter how strong someone is they simply cannot compete with an industrial arm or a tank.

Just like how we have machines to do all the heavy lifting for us, soon we will have machines to do all the heavy thinking for us. It's already happening. I never solve equations by myself and mostly just use Matlab and wolfram alpha to solve them for me. Computers edit my writing, and now with shit like chat gpt3 and copilot they even write stuff like basic algorithms for my code.

What will be the point of IQ when a machine is just way smarter, more knowledgeable and faster than you could ever be? Imagine wanting to start a business and a computer giving you a bunch of lucrative ideas based on your current resources and situation and then coming up with a strategy to create that business and then doing all the management for you. Once people start plugging that shit into their brains people will not even think for themselves as their subscription to Tencent DeepThink tm will do it for them.

Relationships will just be a chatbot talking to itself as people will quickly realize that using optimized speech patterns fed into their brains by an AI is more effective than coming up with shit to say themselves.

@barcacel You think you will have sex robots after the singularity but the irony is you will BE the sex robot. Why even fuck yourself when its easier to use AI control to optimize your fucking and even control when you cum?

Still a long way to go before ChatGPT displaces writers and programmers.

For one, the information it spits out for writing prompts is wildly inaccurate. Secondly, outside of simple apps, the boilerplate code it uses can cause more problems... and lead to more debugging because the context of the problem is so important. If anything, ChatGPT is just another tool in the box to help competent programmers produce more complex apps in a short space of time that would otherwise require multiple engineers. You still need to understand how to code and program...

According to studies, the singularity is still 100 years away. Still a long time before all jobs are automated, but obviously some are at risk in the short run.

Legit right now gpt3 works great for writing generic functions for specific applications and stuff like boilerplates to open files. I found it to be really helpful with my school projects this year. I think coding is going to change drastically and become far less human-friendly in the future. Instead of writing code people, are going to be feeding ai algorithms complex datasets to generate code. This is why I am choosing neural nets as my bachelor's degree focus. I don't want to be that boomer that gets replaced cause he doesn't understand how to use the new tools.

Chat gpt3 like literally only does the stackoverflow searching for you

It's useless for bugfixing, coming up with concepts, analysing requirements from idiot customers, which is like 98% of a coders job.

the takevoer will happen soon, we need to form an underground society to passively stand up to it by living underground and doing absolutely nothing

lt can make coding faster and less tedious. Also this is only the first generation. I wonder what types of datasets people are going to feed future ais to generate code. Natural language obviously isn't precise enough.

tf is the point of that? This isn't a zombie apocalypse.

In reality when working on relatively complicated projects, you'd spend most of your time stuck somewhere where ai just doesn't have enough context as to why something doesn't work the way it should to be able to help you.

Can't imagine ai veing able to do this in the next 10-30 years.

According to Metaculus "Weakly AGI" is only 6 years away
According to Carmack it's 10 years away
10 years ago no one said it was close except for futurologists and redditors but there has been a revolution in the last few years. In 2021 DALLE 1 came out, but it was so bad nobody cared, I literally saw no one talking about it, then in 2022 we got DALLE 2 which was 1000x better but needed a supercomputer to run, now we have several text-to-image AIs that can run on an an affordable gaymen GPU. This progress is even more exponential than Moore's law, it's like doubling every 3-4 months instead of 18.

Software Engineers are here to stay for atleast the next 500 years, no AI will reach human level at least till then
