Mads Mikkelsen doesn’t even need eyebrows and already mogs 90% of the population.(imo)
If we’re being objective, Mads is basically the perfect example of how bone structure, harmony, presence can carry a face. His biggest weapon is obviously the zygomatic structure: extremely prominent, highset cheekbones with a strong lateral projection that create a deep midface shadow and give his face that carved, almost predatory look. The zygos flow naturally into a relatively lean midface instead of looking puffy or isolated.
Even though some might say he looks like a botched plastic surgery,,
I’d really like to hear some opinions in the replies, maybe some correcting if my analysis is wrong.
Then you have the jaw. It isn’t the widest or most hypermasculine jaw ever, but the mandibular body is long and defined, with a strong gonial region and excellent chin projection. His lower third has enough vertical length to balance the prominent cheekbones, which is important because otherwise his midface could dominate the whole face.
His eye area is probably his most recognizable feature. Deep-set, narrow-ish eyes with a strong brow/orbital structure give him that naturally intense stare. It could use a lot of work, but still pretty nice.
Nose: strong and masculine with good projection, but not perfectly delicate. Lips’mouth: relatively thin lips and a large mouth. Not a conventional prettyboy feature.
There are downsides, obviously. His midface is somewhat long, the nose is fairly prominent, his lips are thin, and the face has some natural asymmetry. His eye area can also look somewhat weak rather than universally "handsome." If you isolated individual features, you could find plenty of flaws. The point is that the overall composition is much stronger than the sum of the individual parts.
Around his late 40s or early 50s he had an insane combination of low facial fat, sharp zygos, skin quality, hair, facial maturity and overall physicality. Even now he looks very good for his age, but the additional skin laxity, wrinkles and loss of some facial fullness make the bone structure slightly less brutally defined than it was in his prime. He was around 50 during the Doctor Strange era, and contemporary coverage noted that he could easily pass for considerably younger.
