Has anyone here ever tried coding to make money since if you're talented you could make alot and there is no age limit nor will you loose anything if it doesnt work since you get more experience and then can make a better game

Pointless. We have AI now and there are kids who have been doing competitive coding since 10 years old on sites like codeforces

It's gonna be hard to profit from this until you've got many thousands of hours of experience under your belt

yeah the only way to utilise coding is commissions right?

You totally can't make your own fucking projects

Did I just shit on your planned career path or something?

The chances of him vibe coding some innovative project that makes him rich is extremely low. You need to choose an area invest thousands of hours into it. Kids on here want get rich get quick schemes, not shit that takes thousands of hours of time input

He mentioned being talented at coding which takes time

It's clearly not a get rich scheme

But I'm not even gonna bother talking to you after this reply tbh

I think the market is completely taken over by big companies like ea and even if you wanted to make an indie game, 99% ai could do better somehow

I think a better more interesting path is learning how to break games. Get into Reverse Engineering. Get hired by some Anti-cheat team those guys get insane salaries, but again, you can't bypass the time input. You need to understand Windows internals, you need to understand assembly, you need to know become good at reverse engineering.

If you're white getting into game dev is gonna be tricky unless you are gay or something because most game dev teams are woke and liberal as shit

I wouldn't say talented but I've been coding consistently atleast 1.5 hours since last summer and it made me pretty decent, and i dont plan on stopping since i have nothing better to do in my free time

Mb for the double reply, i just wanted to say that i think i found a really good way to make alot of money since roblox rn is filled with low effort ass games which just steal money from kids, im not planning to make a low effort one just enough hard work to make it stand out, its been my main project for the past 4 months and i think i found a rlly cool niche

Hey dude, I love coding as a concept, but I wouldn’t recommend pursuing it at this point because AI will handle that within the next ~2 years.

I’m in the process of learning C# (my main objective right now) because I like videogames, and I’d like to start programming in Unity and Godot, Python and C++ for automation, and SQL plus R for data science.

None of these will be necessary in the future. They’re useful if you’re going to use them “tomorrow,” as I, for example, need them for some immediate money opportunities I’m pursuing, (and currently going well!) not as a career choice. Expand that little time span before AI takes over, use it if you want, but don’t dedicate your life to it. Instead, learn valuable skills that AI can’t replicate.

Cybersecurity might not be affected by AI. And if it does, and you like it, research on how to be the one using the AI instead of being the one affected by it.

And if you already are a pro or almost one, PLEASE, learn what AI can do for you. Build or be crashed.

I mean i am trying to work with ai a bit to make my work faster but tbh its been kinda useless and causing more problems than fixing it, is there a specific one which works better than gpt or Claude?

Depends on what you're using it for, heard Deepseek was getting better. It's ChatGPT's chinese competitor. I have some other tools I have to gatekeep but if you clarify what you want it for exactly I'll let you know.

Prolly some error spotting one and not one which causes more trying to fix mine
As far as I’ve heard, the current ChatGPT model has great error-spotting abilities. I would personally use github’s AI (awesome tool) or CodeGeex. I think both are free, but I’m not sure about github.
