You overestimate the average man. Most men are also incompetent cardboard midwits. Most people live pathetic and boring lives, but they refuse to accept it and decide they need to act like they love whatever floundering they waste away doing. The lower part of the curve will rot and accept it. They are not living an admirable life but they are at least admirable in accepting their circumstances unlike most. The best will reject their circumstances and do something great.
