I showed my gf a gerbert johnson video last night. I wanted to get a woman's reaction. I showed her his latest video on his mourning routine, and she was shocked. She basically said something to the effect of "I would kill myself if I had to do all this every morning." And it crystallized something in my head that I've always felt about self improvement. At some point, it becomes malignant, like a tumor. It sucks all your energy away from the things that actually matter into weird concerns about how cold your showers are or how meditation you do.
I really want to make a video describing the process of how someone goes from "I want to talk to girls" to journaling, reading stoic philosophy, waking up at 5am and all the other bullshit that doesn't matter. Like I'm all for becoming a better version of yourself, but at some point it just becomes this weird detour. At no point in gerbert's morning does he actually hit on girls. It's just endless kicking that can down the road so he can get 1% less bf or something. It's wild.
