The James Gunn Superman movie is trash. The cinematography is so lame that it resembles porn movies, it's nowhere near a comic book style like he was proposing. It looks like those low budget tv shows.
The Image bellow represents Gunn's whole movie.
look at this shit. The cinematography is so flat and clean, it has no depth. The colors are lifeless. Superman's suit is goofy as hell. The direction of the scene is awful, look how weak he seems after surrendering, even though Ultraman is behind him, they could've made him appear more dominant. This nigga does not look like a hero at all, more like a mexican clown that got caught by ICE.
This Superman acts like a fucking child, he's too emotional, "yeah, yeah, but he saves people, he's empathic, he acts like a human being, and is comic accurate" fuck no nigga. Superman is supposed to be a god like being that is always trying to make the perfect decisions out of impossible situations. A symbol of hope, an ideal. Someone that doesn't show weakness but empathy, being fragile, emotional and passive is not near the same as being empathic.
He's not meant to be relatable, he's not a loser like spiderman, he's not like us, he isn't supposed to be a mirror, but a beacon. You look at that Superman and see a low t cuck faggot.
Meanwhile in this single shot, you already can see how imposing he is, how he has control over the room and how calm he is. Thanks to the work of camera, lightning... the whole visual composition.
Snyder's Superman is an unconventional vision, a representation of a god among us, a clear parallel to Jesus Christ. What is actually realistic and well made, different take that still preservers the core of Superman.
Imagine how would people treat someone who is indestructible, can lift entire buildings, fly, see through walls, move faster than a thought. People would worship him. They would fear him, even if he was doing good things for mankind. People would make cults and churchs around him.
And despite all that, he still is who he is, a kind being. He still saves people instinctively. He still puts himself in danger without hesitation. He still protects a world that doubts him, fears
him, and questions his existence.
Just because he isn't smiling and looking happy all the time it doesn't mean he isn't Superman. His humanity comes from choosing to do good even with all his powers, carrying the weight of being a symbol of hope.
Man of Steel isn't perfect, but it's still beautiful, has a great story, fights, CGI and actually feels like cinema.
