Throughout the past few months, I and many others have noticed the rapid popularization of a MARPE (Mini-Screw Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion) Device. The MARPE device works by using mini-screws to directly brute force the mid-palatal suture open, common in late teens to young adults and to achieve palatal expansion.

Recently, I went in to the orthodontist for a consultation regarding braces and a MARPE, and he proposed Damon braces but stated he thought a MARPE was unnecessary. However, since then, I looked up the symptoms one must typically experience for a recommendation to get a MARPE. Typically, one would only be installed for a narrow palate (obviously). Since then, I've noticed my tongue having bite marks from inability to fit within my palate, I've observed myself mouth breathing in my sleep (fml), I feel restless regardless of how many hours I get of sleep, I have stubborn dark circles, and my maxilla is recessed (ggs).

My questions are as follows:
1. Can MARPE drive CCW rotation and/or forward growth?
2. Will a MARPE be extremely effective at 17?
3. What complimenting treatments would be effective to take advantage of before the inevitable agepill rapes me?

Note: I'd love some input from those with experience and who've had a MARPE or a similar device installed.

You haven't even shown us your fucking face, how are we supposed to know what you should get? Worth noting that MARPE and all other forms of surgical palate expansion do more harm than good 9 times out of 10.

1- definitely not, causes cow matter of fact
2- only if u had a narrow palate, which u probably do, better sleep, tongue, teeth pos, better breathing, better bite
3- nothing other than Marpe at 17

Would you say MARPE is a net negative then when it comes to looks? Or rather, do the health benefits outweigh the looks costs?
