ortho told me that I’ll need around 30 total activations with my MARPE before braces.

wondering if there would be any noticeable difference to doing a few more activations beyond the recommended amount, in terms of maxillary expansion and overall facial harmony. Would additional activations potentially lead to better results, such as a wider palate, improved cheekbone support, more balanced facial appearance, or would the difference be small ?

If there is anyone who had a MARPE and knows more about it. How many total activations did you end up doing, and did you notice any changes in your facial structure? Any tips help

trying to understand whether there’s any benefit to aiming for slightly more or whether sticking to the prescribed amount

It will expand more. Different appliances have different amount of expansion per turn. Palate will be wider with more turns(clear difference close to 1/1 ratio after split). Cheekbone effects vary between individuals.

Facial balance is a hit or miss can improve, get worse or stay the same depending on individual. Usually the biggest difference is between mouth and nose. More turns increase the risk of assymetry and one side dropping. IMV gives a indication about number of turns but angle of teeth, degree of dental crowding and nose apperture width also influence the expansion need.
