I mean, I don't really think putting anything on your lashes will really affect your skin age or endocrinology, if you're putting it correctly the mascara is only making contact with your lashes. Given that lashes are dead tissue, and there's no blood supply connecting them to the body (other than the tip, which you're not supposed to be touching with mascara anyway), then it's unlikely it will have an effect.

However, he does kinda have a point makeup is usually socially unacceptable for men, but women don't have to know, and even when they do, most of them don't care from personal experience. I have an eyelash curler, mascara and other stuff at my department, most that has happened is one of them asks me about it (I assume thinking I may have a partner?) I explain, and we move on.
