I told my parents how much I am glad to not be working my shitty restaurant job anymore, and my mom says "Oh I'm surprised you hated it that much. You never complained." I explained how I chose to bite my tongue since complaining would have been useless. She said "oh you're so manly." I replied that if not complaining about shitty circumstances makes one a man, then I don't want to be one. My doofus father chimed in with something along the lines of "Well, that's life. You need to put up with it in order to work."
Don't let anyone tell you what manliness entails. It's just a way to get you to benefit this dogshit society. The concept conditions you to be slavish. If you know for a fact your circumstances are less than ideal and you rightfully complain about it, people will tell you to be a man in order to either feel good about themselves, to avoid helping you, or to benefit anyone but yourself.
