-If we have gone years without reproduction which is a physchological need... are we permanently messed up? can we recover?

Maslows' hierarchy of needs is an outdated model that shouldn't be used in 2020. Evolutionary psychology does not use this model, offering their own models that are more fitting within a Darwinian perspective, and even social psychology offers new models that are becoming more popular and have more scientific support like self-determination theory.
