Maybe you could ask them why they insist on moving the mandible backwards, instead of only pushing the maxilla forwards? Either way don't worry too much about maxillary retrusion because the forward position of the maxilla is not as important for attractivness as often emphasized. The big thing you really don't wanna have is vertical maxillary excess, which causes an excessively long midface.
