Let me give you a trivial example that most people overlook

Pretend you are a nice guy, imagine you have learned that people can take advantage of your niceness and noticed that girls react positively to “aggressive” men.

When you see a girl who responds negatively to that type of male, you might start to be interested in her because she might appreciate your niceness. Conversely, you might find a girl attractive but lose interest in her as soon as you notice her being very friendly towards the aforementioned type of male
