What do you mean "tech roles", you probably mean management roles where your connections, social skills, looks, etc. determine your success, not your degrees and diplomas.

Everyone loves a meritocracy until the meritocracy determines your actual worth amd humbles you.

The tech scene cares more about pedigree once the years start rolling in and some of the degree accumulators just fall short

This is water tho. Why will employers hiring for highly technical roles like software engineering, data engineering, ML engineer etc care for management skills. MBA just helps with those in-between roles like tech strategy, tech consulting, VC, product manager and even in these kind of roles they generally hire a senior engineer who has experience with clients and who knows how to talk and has some basic management skills.

If you're doing it for the brand like OP. MBA will obviously disappoint in tech.If you're doing it for a pivot then it worth it. MBA is like a prestige degree

True, u need a solid tech background for a management role in a tech firm. And it's also TRUE there are millions of tech grads from 3rd worlds who can replace you at half your salary. At India, every 1 out of 3 houses has an engineer.

And that's why MBA is most worth only in HR, venture capitals, sales and marketing, etc.
