Well I'm (India) Indian and many Indians have at least some degree of Indo European ancestry. Higher in some individuals, lesser in some individuals. Only DNA results can give true answer for a given individual. Though we can speculate based on their physical appearance.
The results are usually Celtic(Irish/Scottish/Welsh) and/or Scandinavian or Eastern European/Slavic. Sometimes Central European. This does not mean direct admixture from these regions but owing to various Northern-Central-Eastern European groups.
As for Italians and other Southern Europeans, they can have Natufian input. Which is why E1b1b ydna can be found in Southern Italy and Greece.
And J2 ydna which is Levantine(came with the Neolithic farmer I believe) also common in Southern Italy and Greece.
These two are the non-European genetic compositions in the Southern Europeans especially in Italians and Greeks.
As for us Indians especially in the North and Upper Castes, we have many phenos. But going by phenotype and genetic evidence, it seems our European ancestry are Nordic related phenos as well as Upper Paleolithic Hunter Gatherers aka CroMagnids.
I myself am phenotypically CroMagnid altered by Nordid. I look exactly like a male version of Claudia Schiffer.
So the theory that Indo Europeans came directly from Russia is untenable. They, the Nordic Indo Europeans picked up CroMagnons from Central Europe and some of them moved into India creating the Indo Aryans.
I personally feel that since European Mediterranean peoples evolved, developed and adapted to Southern European climate and environment they are Europeans aka White people. Southern Europe is after all... Southern EUROPE.
In America, the Whites mostly descend from Celtics, Anglos and Germanics. So they see Meds as non-White.
But the truth of the matter is that even Celtics and Anglos carry Mediterranean admixture. This has been proven by countless anthropologists such as Carleton Coon and Eickstedt.
Just because Nordic admixture gave them very pale White skin and coloured eyes does not exclude their Mediterranean admixture as well giving rise to their North Atlantid phenotypes.
The Mediterranean component in Celtics and Anglos in it's pure form is Atlantid or Atlanto Mediterranean admixture. So therefore THEY are partially Southern European themselves. If they exclude Spaniards, Portuguese and Italians as non-White then they themselves are non-White.
