Mods and admins deserve more respect.

It seems like not a day goes by where I don’t see someone complaining about mods and admins on any type of social media. It seems people hate mods, but overall, I think they deserve respect for the work they do.

Mods and admins are usually people who are volunteering their time to maintain a community they’re passionate about. They sacrifice their time to create a fun / safe / helpful place for others. They have to read through a ton of content (some of which can be very disturbing) deal with drama and trolls, settle disputes, and keep a watchful eye out for illegal activity such as doxxing and child grooming.

They make and enforce rules because they’re trying to create a good place for the majority of people. The fact that a few people get reprimanded for breaking rules doesn’t outweigh how much good the rules do. The people who break them either willingly or out of ignorance are just very vocal and make mods and admins seem like power hungry no-life monsters.

Sure, I have had a couple posts removed for inadvertent rule breaking. But after messaging a mod, I either had the reason politely explained or even got my post reapproved after explaining why I believed it wasn’t against a rule.

Sure, there are some power hungry mods and admins who abuse their power but the majority of them are passionate people like you and me who just want to create a community for like-minded people. They’re hard working, attentive, fair, and selfless.

Therefore, I believe mods and admins deserve more respect.
