What would lead to more secretion of HGH and igf-1:
1) smaller but more frequent meals
2) larger but less frequent meals

Both diets are high protein, high carb and high gi

I’m aware that larger but less frequent meals lead to a higher insulin sensitivity which is a good thing

Larger, less frequent meals tend to favor more pulsatile secretion of HGH. Frequent meals create a near-constant rise in insulin levels, which can blunt the natural pulses of growth hormone release. When meals are spaced out, there is an extended period of lower insulin levels that encourages a stronger surge in HGH. This surge, in turn, can promote higher IGF-1 production since IGF-1 synthesis in the liver is closely linked to GH pulses.

Key points to consider:

  • Lower Insulin Periods: Longer intervals between meals reduce insulin's inhibitory effect on HGH.
  • Pulsatile Secretion: HGH is released in bursts, which are more pronounced with less frequent eating.
  • IGF-1 Relationship: Increased HGH pulses can lead to greater conversion into IGF-1.
Thus, for diets with identical high protein, high carb, and high GI content, larger but less frequent meals would likely result in higher secretion of both HGH and IGF-1.
