I know that when im feeling angry, down, insecure I start judging everyone I see and insult them in my head

"The sake of it" is a copout answer as nothing is for the sake of it. There is always a deeper meaning behind a behavior which is often extremely repressed

Am Talking about people who behave like this as a habit. If its really someone who is in a bad place, such behaviour is rarely permanent if they are decent deep down.

Npd is very strongly correlated with trauma and is the definition of low self esteem. These people feel shit about themselves deep down, so shitting on others makes them feel better.

you don't know what they felt or how they feel though when you think of them , you probably assume that they have your life or something similar, but it could be way harder and tougher, the possibilities are endless. and even if their life isn't objectively harder, they can still feel like that mentally

so their pain may not equate to ur pain , and they may have underlying mental illness that makes them act as they do

But my general thesis is that these are the minority of people who behave like dicks. When I see them, I can usually tell. And they get a pass. And their meanness isn't their default setting.

But most nasty/mean people are just that, because they are awful human beings lacking manners, morals & basic decency. It's really simply as.

We're probably not going to change each other's minds. Just wanna say my point is that most shitty people should be taken at face value. They literally show you who they are deep down and you're making excuses for them? Wtf?

Only the minority might actually be worthy of some empathy.

I can see where you are coming from, I do think it's a lot deeper than that and it's not as simple as it seems.

You can't read people and look at their entire life and their past, you only see one small fractions of their life and perceive if the way you do, you don't have the full truth unless you are them though. Maybe they learned the lack of manners, morality, from a traumatic childhood , where the parents treated them the same and taught them that's how you should treat others for whatever reason. It's very sad and it's a cycle of trauma. You could be right sometimes but eh the human mind & behavior is very complex so it can't be as simple as that
